Scott Forssell makes final appointments
Mayor Scott Forssell has appointed five people to Hayden's new Public Safety Commission as one of his final acts as mayor.
Public safety has been a contentious topic in Hayden the past several months as the City negotiated the terms of its contract with Sheriff Bob Norris. City Council Members Roetter and DePriest have voiced support for the creation of a City of Hayden police department as an alternative to the City's current relationship with the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office.

The five people appointed to the Hayden Public Safety Commission are:

John Spencer
Douglas Chotkevys
Stephen Hall
Scot Haug
These appointments are part of the Consent Calendar for Hayden City Council's agenda on January 9, 2024.
Swearing In the New Mayor and Council Member
Mayor-elect Alan Davis, City Council Member-elect Tom Shafer, and returning City Council Member Matt Roetter will be sworn in during the City Council meeting on Tuesday, January 9, at 5pm.
Sheriff Bob Norris running for re-election
Kootenai County Sheriff Bob Norris has announced his re-election campaign. More information is available on his campaign website. He states his priorities as protecting the rights of citizens, fighting irresponsible growth, and fighting the crime that comes with irresponsible growth.
